A great way to explore some of the more difficult to access coves and hidden caves, on a very calm day you can paddle or kayak from Freshwater bay to see the caves at Watcombe bay and even paddle your way around to the ‘Needles’ rocks and lighthouse, please carefully check the weather and swell forecast before going. The North East coast is normally more sheltered, so better for sea paddle boarding or kayaking. If you prefer inland paddling then Newtown Creek is a beautiful place to explore – go at high tide and take a picnic- you can launch from the bridge just before Newtown Old Town Hall. Tact-Isle Adventures offer SUP and kayak safaris and sessions with qualified instructors, you can also hire a paddle board or kayak from them.
